Wilhelmina
"Minnie" Knipp (Bilder) Great-Grandmother,
maternal side I don't know a lot about Wilhelmina Knipp - I've only uncovered some photos and found her in the census recently, to verify some of the things my grandmother and Uncle George (Minnie's youngest child) told me over the years. I discovered that Minnie was working in Philadelphia as a cook in 1900, because she's listed this as her occupation and "boarder" in a home in that city. So it seems she was an independent working woman for a short while before she met my great grandfather, Joe Bilder. What I don't know yet is if that was her home town or if she was originally from Ashland - although I've been told she was. The few people I'd gotten to talk to about Minnie before they passed away, frequently referred to her as sweet, kind and a very gentle soul. She died quite young - and I haven't confirmed what took her life. I've heard it was complications of child birth from a few sources but the dates aren't quite right so I'm still working on resolving that information. Minnie is buried in Ashland in a family plot at St. Mauritius Cemetary.
